Many people have asked us this very question so I’ll use this opportunity to answer it with a bit more detail.
Basically we’ve attached one of our phones to the ceiling. Yes - we take almost all of our pictures with with our phones, these darn little buggers have become so good (and are so much more convenient) that we use our reflex camera only rarely these days. Using a smart phone also makes it very easy to do the whole over-bed thing because they are light and easily remote controlled. We simple attached a little card board box to the ceiling with some Velcro tape. Our box had already a little window for the camera cut into it so we could just slide the phone in the box and mount it to the ceiling.
To remote control the camera you have to turn it on and in the camera settings activate voice control. Also you wanna turn on the shutter sound so you will know that it actually takes a picture.
Now if you want to adjust the setting, the camera angle or simply check how certain poses look, it is quite literally a pain in the neck to reach up take the phone down, look at the pictures and then put up again repeatedly. However, there is a very useful app called IP Webcam (Android/playstore, but probably there are others like this one out there). If you open the app it starts a video stream and gives you a URL. If you type this URL in your browser on your computer next to your bed, you’ll see a live stream from your camera, which makes it easy to try and adjust poses.
